Marrero Dental Assistant Retires After 40 Years in Dentistry

MARRERO, LA--(Marketwired - June 18, 2015) - A Marrero dental office recently held a retirement party for a longtime employee who had worked in dentistry for more than 40 years.

Lapalco Family Dental, operated by Dr. CJ Landry, said goodbye to long-time dental assistant Vickie Eubanks, who began her career in dentistry in 1975. Eubanks officially retired April 30 after working almost 10 years alongside Dr. Landry.

“Vicki has been such a valuable asset to me and to our wonderful patients,” said Dr. Landry, who provides Marrero same-day crowns. “It’s incredible to have someone with so much experience and passion by your side for so many years.”

Eubanks was the first employee Dr. Landry hired following Hurricane Katrina. Eubanks came to the office because her previous employer decided not to rebuild in New Orleans. Dr. Landry had a similar problem, as many of his staff decided not to return to the city following the hurricane.

“At the time, I was thrilled to have such a skilled dental assistant join the staff,” Dr. Landry said. “I’m very sad to see my right hand leave but thrilled for Vicki to be able to slow down and enjoy her life.”

Dr. Landry opened Lapalco Family Dental in July 1982 at 5421 Lapalco Blvd, Suite H. He provides general dentistry services, as well as restorative dentistry, implant dentistry and short-term orthodontic solutions. Individual services include dental implants, implant-supported dentures, CEREC same-day crowns, teeth whitening, Six Month Smiles and ClearCorrect.

Dr. Landry has worked to implement the latest technology into his practice. He uses digital X-rays, soft-tissue lasers to treat gum disease and a 3D cone beam scanner. Dr. Landry uses the three-dimensional scans to map out dental implant procedures. The scan allows Dr. Landry to view patients’ jawbone density, nerves in the mouth and even the smallest blood vessels. Dental implants have become a leading option for replacing natural teeth. The implants are titanium rods that can support an individual crown, bridge or denture. Dental implants give patients 90 percent of the chewing force they had with their natural teeth and can last a lifetime.

Dr. Landry grew up in New Orleans’ West Bank but lived in Germany for four years as a child. He attended West Jefferson High School and then received a football scholarship from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, La., where he earned his undergraduate degree in chemistry. After graduating from Louisiana State University School of Dentistry, he opened a practice with a classmate in 1982 and has been practicing at that location ever since. His business partner opened his own practice in 1987.

Dr. Landry has completed a residency program in dental implants and received advanced training in rotary endodontics and orthodontics.

Lapalco Family Dental works to give patients of all ages the care they need. The Marrero dental office offers patient financing programs CareCredit and Springstone and subscribes to LocalMed.
