Marrero Dental Practice Receives Training in Same-Day Crowns

MARRERO, LA--(Marketwired - May 31, 2015) - Dr. CJ Landry, a top Marrero dental implant provider, and his staff at Lapalco Family Dental recently received training in same-day crown restorations.

The training focused on CEREC, which uses CAD/CAM technology to design crowns and a special milling machine to create the permanent restoration in one visit. Dr. Glenn Appleton, a leading authority on CEREC, visited Lapalco Family Dental on April 24 to train Dr. Landry and his staff on the new technology.

“As an office that is constantly evolving and implementing the latest technology, we make an effort to stay ahead of changes and provide the most up-to-date care to our patients,” Dr. Landry said. “Dr. Appleton is an excellent trainer, and the staff has been very excited to use their new skills.”

Lapalco Family Dental uses CEREC to restore damaged teeth, teeth with large cavities or teeth that have had root canals. CEREC is unique because it designs and then crafts the restoration in one day, eliminating the need for patients to wear an uncomfortable temporary crown while they wait for a lab to create their permanent restoration.

For most routine crowns, patients can walk out of Lapalco Family Dental in less than two hours with a natural-looking, permanent restoration.

“The bottom line is that patients no longer have to wear an uncomfortable temporary for weeks; they spend less time at the office; and they need fewer injections to complete the treatment,” Dr. Landry said. “Patients are happy to get their treatment over with in one simple visit, instead of spreading it out for weeks.”

Dr. Landry opened Lapalco Family Dental in July 1982 at 5421 Lapalco Blvd, Suite H. He provides general dentistry services, as well as restorative dentistry, implant dentistry and short-term orthodontic solutions. Individual services include dental implants, implant-supported dentures, CEREC same-day crowns, teeth whitening, Six Month Smiles and ClearCorrect.

Dr. Landry has worked to implement the latest technology into his practice. He uses digital X-rays, soft-tissue lasers to treat gum disease and a 3D cone beam scanner. Dr. Landry uses the three-dimensional scans to map out dental implant procedures. The scan allows Dr. Landry to view patients’ jawbone density, nerves in the mouth and even the smallest blood vessels. Dental implants have become a leading option for replacing natural teeth. The implants are titanium rods that can support an individual crown, bridge or denture. Dental implants give patients 90 percent of the chewing force they had with their natural teeth and can last a lifetime.

Dr. Landry grew up in New Orleans’ West Bank but lived in Germany for four years as a child. He attended West Jefferson High School and then received a football scholarship from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, La., where he earned his undergraduate degree in chemistry. After graduating from Louisiana State University School of Dentistry, he opened a practice with a classmate in 1982 and has been practicing at that location ever since. His business partner opened his own practice in 1987.

Dr. Landry has completed a residency program in dental implants and received advanced training in rotary endodontics and orthodontics.

Lapalco Family Dental works to give patients of all ages the care they need. The Marrero dental office offers patient financing programs CareCredit and Springstone and subscribes to LocalMed.
