Marriott Culinary Apprenticeship Academy Welcomes Young Student to Hotel's Culinary Facilities

Ryan Nobes Begins His Career Path Through Dedicated Efforts of London Heathrow Marriott

HARLINGTON, HAYES, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Jan 10, 2013) - Joining in the training efforts of the Marriott Culinary Apprenticeship Academy, London Heathrow Marriott culinary staff recently welcomed Ryan Nobes into their midst to begin his hospitality career with the dedicated efforts of Marriott International's career development program.

Welcoming the 21-year-old Nobes to the hotel's kitchens, staff of the London Heathrow Marriott allowed the young apprentice to work at their side as part of an overall career development programme that will allow Nobes to travel the country learning tricks of the trade from industry experts such as Executive Chef Joe Beaver.

"This is a fantastic initiative providing much needed opportunities for young people," praised Beaver in speaking of the Marriott's Culinary Apprenticeship Academy. "We have high hopes for Ryan who has already become a part of the team and we look forward to welcoming him as commis chef after his apprenticeship."

Through the academy's 18-month programme, Marriott will train 15 young apprentices to NVQ Level 2, aiming to increase the number to 30 next year. The educational programme is in partnership with Babcock, one of the UK's largest vocational training providers, and is designed to provide apprentices with up-to-date and relevant training to help them develop the skills they will need to progress their careers. All of the apprentices that successfully complete the academy will be awarded a guaranteed position as a commis chef in a Marriott hotel in the UK.

Nobes began with the hotel's kitchen team in November and will continue his studies throughout the country mastering classes on butchery, fishmongery, preparing fruits and vegetables as well as good hygiene practices and other subjects important to mastering culinary crafts.
