Martin Golf Course to Sell in Oct. 23 Auction

PORTAGE, WI--(Marketwire - October 5, 2009) - Martin Golf Course, a 3,000-foot nine-hole golf course in Portage, will sell at auction Friday, Oct. 23, with Albert Burney Auction Company managing the sale.

The course has been operated as a private facility but has received approval to operate as a public course.

"This is a really pretty course, with Bentgrass greens and tree-lined fairways of Kentucky Bluegrass and Wisconsin Fescue. It has a gated entrance and is fully irrigated," said Warren Ward, president of Albert Burney. "It's no pitch-and-putt. This is a Par 34 course with some very challenging holes," he said.

The course is located less than an hour from the Wisconsin Dells, which draws thousands of people to the area each year.

"The seller owns adjacent land that is not included in the auction, and he has indicated a willingness to negotiate the sale of additional land if the buyer of the course wishes to expand it to 18 holes," said Ward.

The auction will begin at 11 a.m. at the course, with registration beginning at 9:30 a.m. Albert Burney representatives will be on site daily beginning Oct. 17 until the auction date from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The course will sell subject to a published minimum bid of $250,000.
