MISSISSAUGA, ON--(Marketwired - February 06, 2014) -
The Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation's annual shelter grant giving program awarded $100,000 in total grants to 10 domestic violence shelters or outreach programs in provinces and territories across Canada. Each shelter received a $10,000 grant to help combat domestic violence, educate local communities, provide much needed shelter and rehabilitation for survivors, especially in a time when donations are down and the need for services is on the rise.
"The Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation is proud to work with local shelters that are supporting and helping to improve the lives of thousands of women and children across the country," said Lynda Rose, a Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation board member and Vice-President of Sales & Marketing of Mary Kay Cosmetics Ltd. "The grants are a signature program for us. The Foundation grants represent just one of the ways in which we are helping to raise awareness of and provide support for domestic violence prevention. Our mission is to enrich the lives of women around the world, and one of the ways we are doing this is through our commitment to breaking the cycle of domestic violence."
Mary Kay has long recognized the importance of educating women about domestic violence and keeping them safe from it. The Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation is supported by hundreds of Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultants, Mary Kay Cosmetics Ltd. and is an important part of the legacy of Mary Kay Ash.

About The Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation
