Maryland Students Learn Cyber Security Savvy and About Future Careers During Cyber Security Awareness Day 2010 Hosted by the Tech Council of Maryland and Lockheed Martin

GAITHERSBURG, MD--(Marketwire - October 13, 2010) -  More than 150 high school students from around Maryland gathered today at Lockheed Martin's NexGen Cyber Innovation and Technology Center in Maryland to better understand the growing significance of cyber security best practices, how cyber threats can significantly impact them and how they can pursue a career in cyber security to become part of the solution to this growing national threat. Hosted by the Tech Council of Maryland (TCM), Lockheed Martin and National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA), today's event is part of a series of events being held throughout October during National Cyber Security Awareness Month.

"It is great to see so many young people listening and learning about cyber security and the significant challenges and risks it poses on our society," said Renée M. Winsky, CEO of TCM. "Working with Lockheed Martin and NCSA was a great experience as we all saw this event as a valuable step in our obligation to educate Maryland's future workers and leaders on all aspects of cyber security, and to encourage them to pursue some of the nation's most important careers in cyber security that are right here in Maryland."

TCM is also leading Maryland forward on cyber security awareness through its CyberMaryland Forum, which are events hosted bi-monthly in various locations across the state with the intent of educating businesses and individuals about the information security issues they face. To learn more about the events go to www.techcouncilmd.com.
