MASC Hosts the 20th Annual Young Authors and Illustrators Conference for School Aged Children

Local Staffing Company Sponsors Event Dedicated to Inspiring Children

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 26, 2011) - Eagle Professional Resources (Eagle) is proud to again sponsor the MASC's Young Authors and Illustrators Conference. The event kicks off tomorrow morning at St. Paul's University. The three day event will give over six hundred kids from across the region the opportunity to learn from some of Canada's most talented authors and illustrators.

Now in its twentieth year, the Young Authors and Illustrators Conference received applications from hundreds of students in the area, ranging from grades 4 to 8, who have a keen interest in writing and drawing. Of the applications received, approximately 600 aspiring authors and illustrators will have the opportunity to participate in a full day's worth of workshops put on by seasoned professionals in their fields. This year's group of authors and illustrators include: Hélène Boudreau, Brian Doyle, Linda Granfield, Lori Weber, Stefan Czernecki, Roslyn Schwartz, Adrianna Steele-Card and Tom Henighan.

"The MASC Young Authors and Illustrators Conference is a favourite among students and artists alike. It is a chance to share literary passions and build treasured skills in story writing and illustration," said Audrey Churgin, MASC's Executive Director. "Eagle's support for this event makes it affordable for all interested children, and an important Canadian community experience."

Eagle's contributions to the conference have not been limited to sponsorship. The nation-wide staffing company has also donated gifts for each student, and, members of the Eagle Team will be volunteering over the next three days. Lisa Murray, Eagle's Marketing Manager, also joined this year's organizing committee. "It's been a pleasure to work with such a dedicated and professional group of people to plan this year's conference," said Murray. "The children get so excited about this event. I heard of one young lady who was literally shaking with excitement as she tore open her acceptance letter. I'm personally looking forward to the atmosphere as hundreds of eager children flood the building to experience the opportunity of a lifetime!"

"The Young Authors' and Illustrators Conference is a unique event in the Ottawa area and one of the few of its kind in Canada. We are proud to help ensure its success each year," said Eagle CEO, Kevin Dee. "Events like this not only promote creative arts, but also help children recognize their dreams and grow to their fullest potential."

Thousands of kids have benefited from the Youth Authors and Illustrators Conference over the past 20 years, going home with new skills and memories that they will hold for years to come. As proclaimed by one recent attendee, "This is one of the most memorable days of my life!"
