Maskarade 2011, Most Successful Gala Yet!

Farha Foundation Organizes an Unforgettable Evening and Raises a Record $350,000

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Feb. 18, 2011) - The Farha Foundation, Quebec's leading AIDS fundraising organization, brought more than 450 glamorous guests together at the Marché Bonsecours on February 17 for the 12th edition of MASKARADE. This incredible annual fundraising evening, themed "LIFE, LOVE, HOPE", featured enthralling performances by GRAMMY nominee Deborah Cox and the fabulous DJ Sandy Duperval.

"We were honoured to be a part of MASKARADE 2011, a magnificent evening. We consider it very important to support a cause that continues to have a major impact on our community," said Debra Margles, President of Michael Kors Canada, and her husband, Pino Forgione, restaurateur of Montreal Gourmet. Both of whom are strong advocates in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

The evening also featured a special silent auction of original works by prominent photographers. This year, the very moving photos illustrated the theme of "LIFE, LOVE, HOPE" as it relates to HIV/AIDS.

"MASKARADE 2011 helped raise a record $350,000 for the Farha Foundation, making it the most successful edition to date" said Simon Tooley, volunteer President of the Farha Foundation. "As always, these funds will be distributed to HIV/AIDS organizations across Quebec."

Once again, MASKARADE 2011 honoured the late Ron Farha, who created the Farha Foundation in 1992. This event highlights the commitment of the Foundation and its volunteers to the fight against HIV/AIDS, a disease that continues to ravage our society. Although the disease remains incurable, it can be prevented.

The MASKARADE 2011 theme "LIFE, LOVE, HOPE," was chosen to pay tribute to Ron Farha, who encouraged others to celebrate LIFE, LOVE, HOPE. This year, artists and photographers were invited to illustrate this theme as it relates to HIV/AIDS. The photos were auctioned during the February 17 gala, with all proceeds going to help Quebec men, women and children stricken with HIV/AIDS.
