Matricis Demonstrates Interoperability at the Colloque-Exposition Informatique-Sante 2012

Better systems integration for heightened effectiveness across the continuum of care

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Oct. 10, 2012) - Matricis Informatique, a firm specializing in enterprise application integration (EAI), has been chosen to demonstrate the interoperability of information systems across the healthcare continuum at the Colloque-Exposition Informatique-Santé 2012, slated for October 11-12 in Montreal. This year, the Association québécoise d'établissements de santé et de services sociaux (AQESSS), organizer of this largest of annual e-health events, chose interoperability - the stakes and challenges associated with it, and the outlook and opportunities it affords - as a key theme. AQESSS will premier an interoperability kiosk and Matricis will be central to it, presenting a unique integration solution based on information sharing.

In this day and age, it is not uncommon for patients to need care from professionals working in a range of healthcare settings: medical clinics, hospitals, specialized institutes, CLSCs, and home care. Through the integration of information systems, the optimization of business processes, and the sharing of information, it is possible to integrate services across the continuum of care, and this in a field where service fragmentation and specialization tend to set up barriers between health professionals. But unfortunately, integration in this field is not always a priority, and unavailable information produces negative outcomes such as wrong or delayed diagnoses. A great many patients and practitioners would certainly benefit from better systems integration across different health institutions.

The purpose of the AQESSS interoperability kiosk will be to demonstrate a sample care continuum within a framework of interoperability, in which lab, imaging, and drug information assets are consolidated. The kiosk is the work of different information service providers recognized for their involvement in the healthcare field, and a range of information systems will be presented, including the electronic health record and the electronic medical record. The role of Matricis will be that of integration expert, demonstrating interoperability among the systems presented.

In addition to offering a range of professional services, Matricis focuses its efforts on powerful integration solutions that can offer precise, effective tools to patients and health care providers. The company's reputation for health sector expertise was no doubt the reason why AQESSS chose it to participate in the interoperability kiosk at the 2012 event.

"What with the many ongoing initiatives in the field of integration, interoperability has become a hot topic in the healthcare system," explains François Beaubien, President of Matricis Informatique. "While this technique opens up a whole range of obvious possibilities, it also tends to turn off a lot of people because of the complexity of the projects in question. Of course, anyone considering undertaking an integration project should begin by gathering information on the subject - but they should also realize that with interoperability, we're looking at the future of health information systems."

Healthcare practitioners from all fields are invited to come live the experience of health interoperability by observing a real-time clinical demonstration at AQESSS's Colloque-Exposition Informatique-Santé 2012, this October 11 and 12 at the Palais des Congrès in Montreal.
