matrix42's Empirum Security Suite Chosen for Techno Innovation Demos at Forrester's IT Forum 2007

Empirum Security Suite Provides Endpoint Defense Against Both External Attacks and Breaches of Corporate Usage Policy

NASHVILLE, TN -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 14, 2007 -- IT Forum 2007 Booth No. 25 -- matrix42, a leading developer of system management software, announced today that its Empirum Security Suite™ is one of five technology solutions being featured during the Techno Innovation Demonstrations at Forrester's IT Forum 2007. The demonstrations provide conference attendees with a first look at new technologies that resolve critical business needs.

Unveiled this month, matrix42's Empirum Security Suite is an integrated real-time defense system designed to protect enterprise endpoints that include workstations and mobile laptops. Empirum Security Suite offers a unified solution for endpoint security including firewall and intrusion prevention while also delivering application and file control, removable device control, wireless control and usage policy enforcement.

"Empirum Security Suite protects against all attacks, no matter the means of infiltration used -- email, WiFi or vulnerability exploits," said Chris Tamblyn, CEO of matrix42. "Forrester's Techno Innovation Demonstrations will showcase our newest technology and give us broad exposure to businesses seeking enhanced endpoint security."

Empirum Security Suite enforces each workstation's specific policy profile whether it is used inside or outside the network, online or offline, at home or on the road. Because the solution uniquely operates at the kernel level, once it has been configured and deployed from the central management console it cannot be disabled or modified by the user, even if the user has administrator rights, which is often the case with mobile laptops.

"Enterprises are beginning to address PCs as a target and entry point for malicious external attacks. At the same time, IT faces competition for resources while implementing governance and policy models needed to sustain growth while protecting the enterprise," said Tamblyn. "Empirum Security Suite is an automated, centrally managed solution that protects endpoints against both external threats and breaches of corporate usage policy."

According to a PricewaterhouseCoopers Information Security Breaches Survey, 99 percent of organizations have anti-virus protection. Despite this, 68 percent of large enterprises have suffered financial loss due to virus infection or denial of services attacks.

Empirum Security Suite provides behavioral-based technology that proactively spots and stops illicit or suspect activities before they affect the workstation. This complements and extends the protection of anti-virus software and other tools that must rely on signature updates or patches against the latest threats. The solution also defends against information theft via keylogging or spyware and other intrusion methods.

Empirum Security Suite deals with all aspects of client and server security, including issues that originate with the corporate end-user. This protection includes configurable user access privileges, application whitelisting and blacklisting, wireless communications security and removable device control (USB, Firewire, Bluetooth, CD/DVD).

Empirum Security Suite is available direct from matrix42 and from its network of North American reseller partners.

Forrester's IT Forum 2007 is being held May 15-18 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville. matrix42 is located in booth number 25 in the Presidential Lobby. The Techno Innovation Demonstrations will be held from 5:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 17 in the Presidential Theater.
