MatrixCare Leads in Volume of NCPDP Compliant Scripts Sent

MatrixCare Sends More NCPDP Scripts Than All Other LTPAC EHR Vendors Combined

BLOOMINGTON, MN--(Marketwired - October 02, 2014) - MatrixCare, the industry leading EHR for long-term care and senior living providers, transmits more NCPDP compliant prescription messages than all other LTPAC EHR vendors combined. This statistic, as confirmed by MatrixCare partners, is critical given the coming November 1, 2014 CMS enforcement of the use of NCPDP 10.6 SCRIPT standard for the electronic transmission of long-term care prescriptions. MatrixCare currently has live NCPDP-based integrations with pharmacies and pharmacy software systems servicing over 80% of the long-term care market.

John Damgaard, MatrixCare President and CEO, commented, "Long-term care providers expect and require timely regulatory compliance from their EHR vendors. MatrixCare is one of the very few LTPAC EHR products to have NCPDP compliant messaging in production well before the November 1, 2014 enforcement deadline. Betting that regulatory deadlines will be delayed and, as a result putting our clients at risk, is not an option for MatrixCare. We were ready for ICD-10 well before the initial implementation date and we were ready for NCPDP messaging well in advance of the enforcement deadline."

Starting November 1, 2014, some new CMS regulations will take effect that will impact pharmacies serving long-term care facilities and assisted living communities. All long-term care prescriptions transmitted electronically must be sent using NCPDP 10.6 SCRIPT standard messages. Computer-generated faxes will not be allowable which could cause significant work flow changes for facilities not using ePrescribing as well as possible financial fines for pharmacies not in compliance. All MatrixCare clients using ePrescribing to send prescriptions to their pharmacies are compliant with the new regulation because MatrixCare currently uses the NCPDP 10.6 SCRIPT format. Unlike other EHRs, MatrixCare ePrescribing clients will not need to revert to manual faxes beginning November 1.
