Mattersight Honored as One of "Chicago's Best and Brightest Companies to Work For(R)"

Annual Award Bestowed by the National Association for Business Resources Recognizes Exceptional Human Resources Practices

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Jun 16, 2015) -  Chicago-based Mattersight (NASDAQ: MATR), the pioneer in personality-based software applications, made enhancing their employee experience a top priority during the past year. That effort is paying off, with last week's announcement that the company has officially been recognized as one of the best and brightest employers in the city.

The annual "Chicago's Best and Brightest Companies to Work For®" award, bestowed by the National Association for Business Resources (NABR), is one that hundreds of companies pursue. To determine the winners, an independent research firm evaluates each company's entry based on key measures in various categories. They include Compensation, Benefits and Employee Solutions; Employee Enrichment, Engagement and Retention; Employee Education and Development; Recruitment, Selection and Orientation; Employee Achievement and Recognition; Communication and Shared Vision; Diversity and Inclusion; Work-Life Balance; Community Initiatives; Strategic Company Performance, and the Best of the Best Small Business.

Mattersight's receipt of the award comes less than one year after the company created the role of Chief People Officer, with the explicit intent of putting a renewed and intensified focus on employee recruitment, engagement, retention, and overall happiness. Some of the company's recent initiatives include expanded benefits options, increased profit sharing, greater work-from-home flexibility, and ample support for volunteer activities, as well as a relocation to a brand-new, state-of-the-art LEED-certified downtown Chicago office space this summer.

Mattersight Vice President and Chief People Officer Melissa Moore, who originated the role, says that the Best and Brightest award validates the value of the employee-outreach efforts her office has undertaken.

"The true honor of this award, for us, is that it's based on the freely-submitted feedback of our own employees," said Ms. Moore. "An outstanding product starts with outstanding employees, so we are constantly striving to create a workplace that attracts smart, talented individuals, and enriches and fulfills them on every level. It's an ongoing process, but this award tells us that we're headed in the right direction. We are thrilled to receive it and to be in the company of so many outstanding Chicago businesses. Most importantly, we're proud that so many of this city's best and brightest minds have chosen to be a part of the Mattersight family."

"We are honored to recognize the efforts of this year's Best and Brightest companies," said Jennifer Kluge, NABR president. "These companies have created impressive organizational value and business results through their policies and best practices in human resource management. This award is a powerful recruitment tool in the drive to attract and retain exceptional employees in the Chicagoland area."

This year's Best and Brightest winners will be honored at a symposium and awards celebration on Friday, July 10, 2015 at the Oak Brook Marriot.
