maurices Works to Help American Cancer Society® Finish the Fight

Women's Clothing Retailer Sells Hope Bracelet to Make This Cancer's Last Century

DULUTH, MN--(Marketwired - May 3, 2013) - International women's fashion retailer maurices is asking its customers and the community to join its efforts in supporting the world's largest cancer-fighting organization, the American Cancer Society. This year marks the Society's 100th birthday, an occasion maurices is celebrating by helping the organization make this century cancer's last.

Now through June 30 (or while supplies last), maurices will sell the 2013 version of its signature Hope Bracelet in all 850+ stores and online. Designed exclusively for maurices, this year's Hope Bracelet features four trendy bracelets packaged together as one. The bracelets retails for $10, and maurices will contribute $5 from each sale to the American Cancer Society.

In addition to Hope Bracelet sales, maurices will also raise money through its involvement in Relay For Life® events, the Society's signature fundraising program. Teams of maurices associates and customers will raise funds and take turns walking or running for 24 hours at upcoming Relay For Life events in their communities nationwide.

"This is maurices' ninth year participating in the Relay For Life National Corporate Team Program, and we're proud to continue our commitment to creating a future without cancer," said maurices Senior Vice President of Stores Neil McPhail.

Held in 5,200 communities in the United States -- with events in 19 other countries as well, Relay For Life events unite more than 4 million people worldwide in raising funds and awareness to save lives from cancer. maurices, one of 52 companies in the National Corporate Team Program, formed 225 teams in 2012.

"maurices has been a committed partner over the years, and we're grateful to have its continued support as we work to finish the fight against cancer," said Lin MacMaster, chief revenue and marketing officer for the American Cancer Society. "Companies like maurices are integral to our mission of making this cancer's last century."

Last year, maurices donated a total of $1 million to the American Cancer Society, with $171,000 from the sales of its Hope Bracelet and Relay For Life fundraising efforts. The company hopes to raise at least $300,000 during the 2013 spring campaign.
