Mazatlan Gets Canadians Talking

An Effort to Encourage Canadians to Share Experiences Finds Baby Boomer Age-Group Eager to Give Impressions and Learn More About Daily Life in Mexico

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Dec. 30, 2010) - Some of the most important players in Mazatlan Mexico's Leisure & Recreational Real Estate industry joined forces with the Mexico Tourism Board to encourage Canadians to ask questions and share impressions about Mazatlan – a popular recreational and retirement destination. Representatives hosted events across Western Canada in the fall, and set up the "Your Mazatlan" website and facebook page where people can view testimonials and request information.

"We created a space where Snow Birds could share their personal experiences with other Canadians," said Jorge Gomez, Sales Director for El Cid Real Estate. "At the same time, we wanted everyone to know there are locals accessible to answer questions about life in Mazatlan."

Participants largely belong to the 55 to 65 age group and previously visited Mazatlan. Respondents emphasized affordability, warmth and friendliness. Common questions referred to travel, availability of doctors, supermarkets, hairdressers and other services required for daily life. "Many people who holiday in Mazatlan are attracted to the idea of returning and staying for longer periods. It is up to us to communicate that Mazatlan is welcoming and has the infrastructure Canadians expect of a winter home," said Walfre Ibarra, Director of Walfre Real Estate

Mazatlan representatives plan to continue to reach out to Canadians. People who have questions about life in Mazatlan can send a message at www.yourmazatlan.com. Comments and Testimonials are welcome.
