McCain Wants Pennsylvania Democrats to Vote for Clinton, Says American Small Business League

PETALUMA, CA--(Marketwire - March 10, 2008) - The following is a statement by the American Small Business League:

For several weeks now, republican strategists on CNN have openly admitted that they would rather see John McCain run against Hilary Clinton than Barack Obama. Before Tuesday's primaries in Texas, Ohio, Rhode Island and Vermont, ultra-conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh was even urging republicans in those states to vote for Sen. Clinton in the Democratic primaries.

Why? The answer is quite simple.

Hillary Clinton would lose against McCain, but Obama would win.

The most recent polls by Time and CNN agree. If the election were held today, Senator Clinton would lose against McCain.

In a McCain/Obama race, the polls found a dramatically different outcome. Barack Obama would beat McCain by as much as seven points. Seven points would be considered a landslide victory and one of the largest margins of victory in U.S. history. The ASBL is confident in Sen. Obama's leadership and commitment to American-owned small business. With that in mind, the ASBL believes that Sen. Obama is the best candidate for small businesses across the nation.

Pennsylvania democrats that favor Sen. Clinton must be realistic and realize that a vote for Sen. Clinton would be more likely to elect John McCain as president than it would be to elect Sen. Clinton.

Rush Limbaugh, Republican strategists and the McCain campaign are more informed about the statistical realities of this campaign than most Pennsylvania voters. The belief is that every state Sen. Clinton wins puts John McCain one step closer to the White House.

In presidential elections where margins of victory are often counted in tenths of a percent, seven points is a sure thing. If Pennsylvania Democrats want to put a Democrat in the White House, the best vote would be for Sen. Barack Obama.
