McDonald's(R) USA Announces Perfect Pair Contest Winners

America Selects "Sweet" Brooklyn Pair as Winner of $10,000 in Prizes

OAK BROOK, IL--(Marketwire - Jun 24, 2011) - America cast its vote, and today, McDonald's USA announced that Jamilah Lemieux and David Giles of Brooklyn are the Winning Pair of McDonald's Perfect Pair Contest, which asked consumers to pair up and share why they are as perfect a pair as the sweet strawberry and tart lemon in the new McCafé Frozen Strawberry Lemonade. Jamilah and David will split the Grand Prize of $5,000 cash and a $5,000 vacation voucher for a vacation of their choice.

"Friends always say that David and I are perfect together and it's amazing that McDonald's gave us the chance to show the world that we really are the perfect pair," said Lemieux. "We think our entry showed just how much fun we have together and we couldn't be happier to have won!" The tweet that gave them their running start to victory read, "@davethepaxtons and I are the "perfect pair" because he is the sweet(heart) to balance out my tart!"

Among other things, Jamilah and David's video (www.mcdonalds.com/McDFSLPairs) portrayed how in sync they are with their shared love of writing, their use of the same hair product and their knack for finishing each other's sentences -- and sandwiches -- as proof that they are McDonald's Perfect Pair.

The McDonald's Perfect Pair Contest kicked off on May 9, and asked people to team together to share via Twitter why they are McDonald's Perfect Pair. An expert judging panel reviewed the more than 600 submissions to determine ten finalist pairs, who then created :30 - :60 second videos further describing what makes them McDonald's Perfect Pair. America was then asked to visit www.mcdonalds.com/McDFSLPairs and vote for their favorite video to determine the winning pairs.

In addition to the Grand Prize Winning Pair, Katherine Moore and Marshall Taylor of Arlington, Va., and Jason Gottshall and Anya Cottage of Canton and Stow, Ohio, respectively, were voted as Runner-Up Pairs. Both Runner-Up Pairs will each split $1,000 in McDonald's Arch Cards.

"Jamilah and David are the perfect blend of sweet and tart, just like McCafé Frozen Strawberry Lemonade," said Sofia Therios, Director of Marketing, McDonald's USA. "All entries were creative and some even showed just how well opposites can go together. But in the end, Jamilah and David won the hearts of America."

McDonald's Perfect Pair Contest celebrated the national launch of McCafé Frozen Strawberry Lemonade, which is available nationwide at participating McDonald's in small (12 oz.), medium (16 oz.) and large (22 oz.) sizes.
