MD+DI Emerging Trends in Medical Device Outsourcing/Contract Manufacturing Conference Features Foliage SVP, John Carey

Carey Shares Best Practices for Creating Innovative, Next-Generation Medical Device Products During Design Trends in Outsourcing Innovations Session

BURLINGTON, MA--(Marketwire - Jun 19, 2012) - Foliage, a product development company, today announced its participation in the Medical Device + Diagnostic Industry's (MD+DI) "Emerging Trends in Medical Device Outsourcing/Contract Manufacturing" conference held on June 14, 2012. Foliage's John Carey, senior vice president of business development, was a featured speaker in its "Design Trends: Outsourcing Innovation" session moderated by MD+DI editor-in-chief, Heather Thompson.

Carey's presentation, "Coming to Terms with Outsourcing," addressed key issues medical device manufacturers face when deciding to work with outside resources including what, when, and how much to outsource, and how to select the right partner for your company's needs. His analysis of how to work effectively with an outsourcing partner addressed issues such as defining your core and non-core competencies, protecting your intellectual property, time-to-market pressure, bandwidth constraints, domain experience and the importance of effective communication when building and maintaining a successful outsourcing relationship.

"It was great to have the expertise of John Carey and Foliage to address the benefits and potential pitfalls of outsourcing next-generation medical device product development," said Thompson. "He gave our audience real-world insight about how to work effectively with outsource partners to achieve product innovation and get a leg up on the competition."

"We were very excited to be invited to participate in MD+DI's prestigious conference focusing on medical device product development outsourcing," said John Carey, SVP of Business Development at Foliage. "We have developed many partnerships with well-known medical manufacturers over the past 20 years that enable us to clearly understand and effectively address new product development challenges, whether they be time to market or technology-based, or both. Partnerships like these, based on mutual respect and deep industry knowledge, often garner the greatest success in a client/outsource partner relationship."

Frost & Sullivan's Medical Device Industry Manager, Venkat Rajan, keynoted the conference, hosted by MD+DI, Medical Product Manufacturing News, China Medical Device Manufacturer and Qmed. To view the "Design Trends: Outsourcing Innovation" session, visit:
