MDN Northern Mining: New Gold Intersections at Viyonza Target-Tanzania

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 15, 2006) - MDN NORTHERN MINING (MINIERES DU NORD) (TSX:MDN) is pleased to announce the latest results from its drilling program testing several gold targets in the Tulawaka region, Tanzania. In September and October 2006, we drilled 2,689 metres in 53 reverse circulation ("RC") holes on the 102.9 km2 Nyantimba license optioned from Tanzanian Royalty Exploration Corporation, about 15 km north of the Tulawaka gold mine. This program was a follow-up of 2005 rotary air blast ("RAB") drilling results from our Viyonza discovery. The best intersections are listed below.

In a lateritic environment, there is often secondary lateral dispersion of the gold in the ferricrete, an indurated flat lying iron oxide-rich unit near surface. Half of the intercepts in this program come from surface dispersion in the ferricrete but the other intersections come from primary quartz veins and altered host rocks. This indicates the presence of a significant gold system in an area of 300 m by 200 m still open. These intersections deserve further follow-up.

Samples were analyzed by fire assays at the Mwanza SGS laboratory (Tanzania). A systematic program of analytical grade verification implemented by MDN returned satisfactory results. The drilling was carried out under the management of geologist Brian Lloyd, and supervised by Dominique Fournier, Ph.D., who acted as a qualified person in accordance with NI 43-101. Additional results from the other drill programs in the Tulawaka area are still expected.

MDN NORTHERN MINING is a Montreal-based Canadian exploration company that holds a 30% interest in the Tulawaka gold mine (Tanzania), a majority interest in 25 mineral licenses near Tulawaka in Tanzania, a majority interest in one license in Eritrea, and other gold and base metal exploration interests in Quebec, Canada.
