MDWork.com Addresses Physician Shortage, Saves Doctors Time

WHITEHORSE, YUKON--(Marketwire - Nov. 9, 2010) - As the most comprehensive physician job listing in Canada, MDWork.com is saving doctors time while helping fill vacancies.

A Canadian doctor pioneered the project after labouring through dozens of regional and provincial job listings in his own career search. With physicians working an average of 52 hours per week, job seekers were wasting precious time. Now, for the first time, physicians see their options at a glance--MDWork.com has posted over 1,400 vacancies to date.

In a survey MDWork.com conducted of physicians and residents from Canada and around the world, most respondents said they were exploring job opportunities in more than one province. 88% said they would use a cross-Canada job board. "Doctors have thanked us for helping them make informed decisions efficiently. And with 10,000 searches of the job listing each month, we're clearly filling a need," says Eric Hennessey, the Project Lead.

Millions of Canadians lack a family physician, and internationally trained doctors provide a partial solution--one quarter of Canada's doctors were educated in another country. MDWork.com is helping attract qualified physicians to Canada by offering a simplified job search. For example, the consolidated vacancies are plotted on a map of Canada right on the homepage.

Underserviced rural and remote regions also get increased exposure, with vacancies now equally accessible to job seekers, creating opportunities to entice much needed doctors.

Recruitment officials across Canada are currently being invited to renew their participation for another year. Eric points out, "We've invested significantly in many forms of marketing, and recently partnered with eCME provider mdBriefCase, which has over 46,000 Canadian physician members, to make sure physicians know this service is available--we're set for a really productive year."
