MedCAD Introduces Revolutionary AccuShape Patient-Matched PEEK Cranial Implants

DALLAS, TX--(Marketwire - Oct 4, 2011) - MedCAD®, a leader in custom medical device development and manufacturing, announced the availability of its revolutionary AccuShape™ patient-specific cranial implants.

Using MedCAD's innovative 3D design and manufacturing processes, MedCAD's AccuShape provides extraordinarily precise, anatomically correct cranial implants for patients requiring cranial skeletal reconstruction as the result of trauma, disease or birth defect. MedCAD's AccuShape implants received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration early this year.

"We are thrilled to bring our AccuShape patient-matched cranial implants to market. MedCAD's AccuShape development process represents a revolution in cranial implants, which have conventionally been made with hand-sculpted or non-patient-specific, off-the-shelf implants," said Nancy Hairston, President and CEO of MedCAD. "Our AccuShape product is not only the most precisely fitting implant, it also can be developed faster and more economically due to our innovative design and US-based manufacturing processes. Our AccuShape implants round out MedCAD's suite of custom CMF solutions that also include Digital Surgical Planning, custom anatomical models and other custom implant products."

"The capability to create PEEK implants modeled after the intrinsic defect provides unique opportunities for physicians to significantly improve the care of their patients," said Dr. David Genecov, MD, FACS, FAAP. "Diversity of products and competition also improves cost options for physicians, patients and third-party payers."

The company is seeking additonal OEM and independent distribution partners to market and deliver its revolutionary AccuShape™ patient-specific cranial implants and other solutions.
