MedcomSoft and Kryptiq Announce Technology Partnership -- Integrated Solution to be Showcased at HIMSS

TORONTO and PORTLAND, Ore.--(CCNMatthews - Feb 6, 2006) -

Users of MedcomSoft Record™ 2006 will now have access to integrated patient portal and secure messaging integrated with their EMR

MedcomSoft, (TSX:MSF) an innovative leader in electronic medical record (EMR) software solutions, announced today the integration of Kryptiq's CareCatalyst™ and ClinicalMessenger™ with MedcomSoft Record™ 2006. MedcomSoft users will now have the ability to provide online patient services through a secure patient portal. Additionally, they will be able to share patient records electronically from within the EMR to streamline communications outside the practice and eliminate costs associated with sending documents via fax or traditional mail.

MedcomSoft Record 2006, the first truly interoperable EMR™, allows drug prescriptions and laboratory results to be automatically codified using MEDCIN® in the same manner as clinical notes. By integrating the CareCatalyst patient portal, MedcomSoft will allow patients to complete online forms which are also MEDCIN-codified, for automatic incorporation into the EMR as structured data. Patient portal services also include online registration, medical record access, appointment requests, prescription renewals, and doctor/patient secure messaging. ClinicalMessenger's secure messaging capabilities will also allow users to share patient information with other providers in the community to streamline referral communications and improve collaboration of care.

"Combined with MedcomSoft Record 2006, CareCatalyst will dramatically simplify practice workflows and allow our users to work with fully codified patient information from the moment the patient first interacts with their practice," says Dr. Sami Aita, chairman and chief executive officer of MedcomSoft.

Electronic referrals using ClinicalMessenger's secure messaging integrated with the EMR have been shown to save $10.37 per referral in place of fax-based communications, according to a study by Providence Health System and The Oregon Clinic. ClinicalMessenger is also integrated with Centricity® Physician Office EMR from GE Healthcare, a reseller of Kryptiq solutions, and has been purchased by organizations across the US to streamline clinical communications in their communities. With integration of the Kryptiq solutions with MedcomSoft Record 2006, users of either of these medical record systems at different organizations will be able to securely share patient information.

Kryptiq will showcase the first commercially available solution for exchanging patient information between two different EMR systems, MedcomSoft Record 2006 and GE Healthcare Centricity EMR, using embedded secure messaging at the 2006 HIMSS Annual National conference in San Diego (February 13-16, 2006) at its booth, #2853.

"MedcomSoft is leading the market in recognizing the needs of providers to share structured and codified health information across their communities," said Tyler Blitz, director of industry partnerships at Kryptiq. "Kryptiq's embedded connectivity solutions allow all members of the healthcare community -- patients, providers, health plans, and pharmacies -- to seamlessly collaborate in the care of the patient."
