Medcor's Injury Triage Service Recognized for Innovation by Business Insurance Magazine

MCHENRY, IL--(Marketwire - Apr 25, 2011) - Medcor, Inc. received the 2011 Innovation Award from Business Insurance magazine, a subsidiary of Crain Communications. The award recognizes Medcor's "leadership, inventiveness and ingenuity" for developing its 24/7 Telephonic Injury Triage service. Medcor's triage service has earned three US Patents already, with more pending. This telemedicine service has proved so effective at controlling the medical and claims management costs of workers' compensation, that hundreds of companies have adopted the service nationwide.

Medcor's triage service was one of more than 60 nominees judged by a panel of risk management professionals. All entries were evaluated on originality in serving risk managers' needs, relevance to core concerns of risk managers, effectiveness in problem solving in the risk management process, ease of understanding and results achieved.

"It was an honor to be nominated by so many of our clients and recognized by our peers in the industry," said Medcor Vice President of Operations Peter Kleeburg, while attending the awards dinner during the Business Insurance Risk Management Summit in New York City. "Our team has developed proprietary software and clinical algorithms designed specifically for remotely assessing injuries in real time."

Medcor's telemedicine triage service provides immediate assistance to people who become injured or ill while on the job. Medcor's triage process identifies situations when injuries can be safely treated with first aid, thereby eliminating unnecessary insurance claims and costs. The triage process also identifies serious cases that require additional medical evaluation and treatment, and then guides patients to the closest appropriate provider.

Medcor continues to refine its triage service, adding features that include secure data links to medical providers and third party administrators to streamline claims processing. "Medcor remains committed to providing effective clinical interventions to help improve outcomes and reduce costs," says President and CEO Philip Seeger.
