Media Accreditation Sports Hall of Fame 2008 Induction

The changing face of Canadian sport will be in the spotlight with the latest induction of six athletes and two builders into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame.

Attention: Sports Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO, MEDIA ADVISORY--(Marketwire - Oct. 15, 2008) - Entering the Sports Hall as athletes this year are former world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis, the 4X100 relay team that won gold at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta (Donovan Bailey, Carlton Chambers, Robert Esmie, Glenroy Gilbert and Bruny Surin), swimmer Nancy Garapick, speed-skater Marc Gagnon and hockey's Steve Yzerman. Figure-skating's David Dore and baseball's Pat Gillick will join them on the podium for induction as Builders. They will be honoured at the Induction Gala on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto.

3:15 p.m. Group photo of 2008 inductees

3:30 p.m. Press Conference, Tudor Room 7, Fairmont Royal York Hotel
All 11 inductees will participate in the formal press conference followed by individual opportunities for interviews

4:45 - 6:30 p.m. Receptions - open to media

6:15 p.m. All CSHOF Honoured Members in attendance and 2008 Inductees gather in Toronto Room for group photo.

6:40 - 10:00 p.m. Gala Dinner

7:25 p.m. Induction Ceremonies - Builders:

Induction Procedures:
After Masters of Ceremony Sylvie Bigras and Brian Williams introduce each inductee a video vignette will follow. The inductee will then be presented with the Canada's Sports Hall of Fame blazer and watch on the platform. Each presentation concludes with the inductee's acceptance speech.
