Media Advisorty/DND: Military Festivity Program Schedule-Quebec City's 400th Anniversary Celebrations

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Sept. 21, 2007) - On September 24, less than 100 days before the beginning of the celebrations, Brigadier-General Christian Barabe, Commander Land Force Quebec Area and Joint Task Force (Eastern), accompanied by the Honourable Josee Verner, Minister of Canadian Heritage, Status of Women and Official Languages, will unveil the military festivity program schedule as part of the celebrations commemorating the 400th anniversary of the founding of Quebec City.

The military heritage that Quebec City has acquired over the last 400 years is entrenched in the heritage of many Quebec and Canadian families. The program, as proposed, will bring this rich collective heritage to the forefront.

The event will take place on the Plains of Abraham, opposite Place Jeanne d'Arc, beginning at 1 p.m. The press conference will be followed by a short demonstration during which the media will have the opportunity to capture historical and modern images of our soldiers in action.

The Honourable Josee Verner, Brigadier-General Barabe and the partners associated with the 400th anniversary activities, including Laurent Tremblay, federal Commissioner of the 400th anniversary; Luc Laine, federal Aboriginal Commissioner; Raymond Lesage, Quebec Provincial Commissioner; Serge Allen, Quebec City Commissioner; Max Gros-Louis, Grand Chief of the hosting Huron-Wendat Nation; and Pierre Boulanger, CEO of the 400th festivities, will be available for personal interviews after the press briefing.
