Media Advisory: Ça Marche/Walk for AIDS - Together, we can do it!

The Farha Foundation's 15th annual 7 km AIDS walk to be held in downtown Montreal in support of those living with HIV and AIDS.

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Aug. 21, 2007) - To mark 15 years of raising money for AIDS awareness and care in Quebec, the Farha Foundation is taking to the streets with their annual, major fundraising initiative - the 7 km walk entitled Ça Marche.

Hosted this year by Mrs. Evelyn Farha, the mother of the late Ron Farha, the creator of the Foundation, and her family, their goal is to raise much needed funds for a disease that still very much affects and effects Quebecers. Even though science has made great strides in the battle against the epidemic, and despite the endless efforts from organizations in the fight against AIDS, the disease is still all too present in Canada. This week, 28 people in Quebec will become infected with HIV.

Since 1992, the Farha Foundation has distributed more than $7.1 millions to 45 AIDS organizations in Quebec making it the largest AIDS fundraising organization in the Province.

"When my son Ron started the Foundation in 1992, he knew there was stigma, misunderstanding and no care and service network in place for those living with HIV and AIDS," says Mrs. Farha. "Today we are still facing the same challenges, even with all the news and information about AIDS. I'm a mother and grandmother and everyday I see a new face of AIDS - children, mothers, new Canadians, young people, the elderly and gay men. AIDS is not going away. There is so much more we can do and that's why I would like to see people raise funds and walk with us in a show of support and celebration of the lives of those who died of AIDS. Together we can make a difference."

Mrs. Farha is calling on people to sponsor her directly at www.camarche.ca.
