World's Largest Hockey Tournament Continues Monday

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 29, 2008) - The 10th annual Bell Capital Cup, the world's premier atom and peewee hockey tournament, continues with games and events on Monday, Dec. 29.

The 485 participating teams are vying for the Allen J. MacDonald Memorial Trophy, which is awarded to each division champion. This year's Bell Capital Cup continues to welcome the world, with more than 69 teams from the United States, as well as teams from China, Finland and Germany entered in the tournament.

Scotiabank-Canadian Tire all-star games

The Bell Capital Cup is pleased to offer each division the opportunity to participate in a Scotiabank-Canadian Tire all-star game. In total, 30 Scotiabank-Canadian Tire All-Star games will be played during the tournament across the city at the majority of tournament venues. Teams are asked by the organizing committee to provide their most skilled players to fill previously determined positions for these games. Players in the game will receive take home a Scotiabank-Canadian Tire all-star jersey as a souvenir. At the conclusion of the game, the Scotiabank-Canadian Tire three stars of the game will be selected including a goaltender (Adam Harlow Award winners), a defenceman and a forward.

Bell Capital Cup Players of the Game Awards

Nike-Bauer and Ottawa Senators Player-of- the-game awards: Following each game at the Bell Capital Cup, the Nike-Bauer player of the game and the Ottawa Senators Hardest Worker awards will be presented (about 1,800 trophies over the course of the tournament) to deserving members of each team. Awards will be presented at each arena following each game.

Nike-Bauer players of the game will be presented with a pewter and rosewood statuette to commemorate their selection, while the Ottawa Senators Hardest Worker winners will receive a Senators hard hat for their efforts in the game. Recipients are ineligible to be honoured on a second occasion, unless the second award is for play in the championship game or a team's final game of the tournament.
