Media Advisory: 412 (Transport) Squadron to Lay Up its Retired Colours at Beechwood Cemetery

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 17, 2011) - Media are invited to attend a ceremony during which Ottawa-based 412 (Transport) Squadron will lay up its retired colours at Beechwood National Cemetery, on June 18, 2011.

Where:Hall of Colours at Beechwood National Cemetery in Ottawa
When:Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 11:45 a.m.

412 (T) Sqn received its new colours at a ceremony in 2006 attended by former Governor General Michaëlle Jean. Since then, the squadron has displayed its retired colours while awaiting Saturday's ceremony. The squadron is honoured to be the first Air Force unit to lay up its retired colours up in the Hall of Colours at Beechwood National Military Cemetery in Ottawa.

412 (T) Sqn is based in Ottawa but belongs to 8 Wing/CFB Trenton. It provides high-ranking government officials and foreign dignitaries with VIP air transportation worldwide.

The squadron currently operates six Bombardier CC-144 Challengers. To accomplish this task it employs 18 pilots, seven flight stewards and eight civilians.
