Media Advisory: 5th Annual Direct Energy Walk, Roll & Run for Roger's House Set for Sunday, Sept. 9

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 6, 2007) - The Ottawa Senators Foundation announced today the fifth annual Direct Energy Walk, Roll & Run for Roger's House presented by Scotiabank is set for Sunday, Sept. 9, at the Brookstreet Resort in Kanata.

The Senators foundation has made a long-term commitment to cover an important portion of the annual operating costs for Roger's House. The fifth annual Direct Energy Walk, Roll & Run for Roger's House, with its two-, five-, and 10-kilometre event routes, is a terrific way to get involved and support the Senators foundation, while making an important and lasting contribution to countless children and their family members in a great time of need.

CTV Ottawa's Max Keeping and Senators in-game announcer Stuntman Stu will emcee this year's festivities. Roger's House honorary chair Mike Fisher will also be in attendance at the event, which has a fundraising goal of $200,000.

The schedule of activities for the day is as follows:

8 a.m. - Registration tent opens

9 a.m. - Welcoming remarks

9:30 a.m. - Spartacat stretch

9:45 a.m. - Brookstreet 2K/Bell 5K/Hangar 13 Art & Design 10K event

10 a.m. - Great-West Life Family Fun Zone

Noon - Event concludes

Returning to this year's festivities will be the Great-West Life Family Fun Zone. Located in the parking lot of its office location adjacent to the race site, Great-West Life and the Senators foundation will provide an array of activities for participants and families, including the GM Sens Street Tour, face painters, balloon artists, Fire Safety House and Fire Department, Little Ray's Reptiles, a free barbecue lunch donated by Ross' Independent for registered event participants, and much more.

Roger's House is the charity of choice of the Ottawa Senators Foundation. Located on the grounds of the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, Roger's House provides a comprehensive pediatric respite and palliative care program with elements of outreach, residential hospice, pain and symptom management; grief and bereavement counseling; and research.

Since opening its doors in May 2006, Roger's House has had more than 200 admissions. The welcoming home-away-from-home atmosphere comforts children and families who are admitted to the state-of-the-art, eight-bedroom facility, where dedicated professionals and volunteers provide the very best in compassionate care and support.
