Media Advisory: 90th Anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge to be Commemorated in Winnipeg

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--(CCNMatthews - April 6, 2007) - The Honourable Gary Doer, Premier of Manitoba, and Joy Smith, Member of Parliament for Kildonan-St. Paul, will take part in a ceremony of remembrance to commemorate the 90th Anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge. Family members of First World War soldiers who fought at Vimy Ridge and representatives of local Veterans' and youth organizations will be in attendance.

Event: 90th Anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge Ceremony of
Remembrance
Date: Sunday, April 8, 2007
Time: 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Location: The memorial to the 44th Battalion in Vimy Ridge Memorial
Park
(Located on Portage Avenue, between Canora and Home Streets
across from the First Presbyterian Church at 61 Picardy Place.)
