Media Advisory/AAFC: Canada's New Government to Launch a New Initiative for Biofuels Sector

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - April 20, 2007) - The Honourable Christian Paradis, Secretary of State for Agriculture, will be in Laval on Monday, April 23, to launch a new initiative designed to support the construction or expansion of transportation biofuels production facilities in Canada. This event is organized in conjunction with an announcement by the Honourable Chuck Strahl, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and Minister for the Canadian Wheat Board, in Alberta. Mr. Paradis will be available to speak to media following the announcement.

The Secretary of State will be joined by Mr. Laurent Bousquet, 2nd vice-president of the Cooperative Federee du Quebec.

Following the event, a departmental expert will offer a technical briefing session to the media.

Before the announcement, Secretary of State Christian Paradis will be at a farm, in Ste-Marie at 9:00 a.m. for a photo opportunity.
