Media Advisory/AAFC: Canada's New Government to Launch a New Initiative for Biofuels Sector

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - April 20, 2007) - The Honourable Chuck Strahl, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and Minister for the Canadian Wheat Board, will be in Aldersyde (30 minutes south of Calgary) on Monday, April 23, to launch a new initiative designed to support the construction or expansion of transportation biofuels production facilities in Canada. Minister Strahl will be available to speak to the media following the announcement.

Following the event, departmental experts will offer a technical briefing session to the media.

Directions from Calgary: Take Highway 2 South until Aldersyde Road, and then turn west. There is large sprung tent structure, turn south onto 2A at the intersection. The event will take place at Abild's Industrial Park located just before the Cargill Foods meat packing plant. (Maps are available by calling Media Relations.)
