GATINEAU, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - June 7, 2016) - The Department of Canadian Heritage invites the media to take part in the celebrations for Canada's 149th birthday on July 1. You will need accreditation to access the designated media areas on Parliament Hill for both the noon and evening shows. In addition, a Canada Day vehicle-circulation pass is required to access closed streets in Ottawa and Gatineau.

To get accreditation and vehicle-circulation passes, contact:

Marc Fortier
Canadian Parliamentary Press Gallery
marc.fortier@parl.gc.ca
Deadline: June 24, 2016

You may pick up passes at 150 Wellington Street, Room 607, on June 27, 28 and 30, 2016.

For vehicle-circulation passes, members of the media will need to provide the driver's name and cellular phone number, the type of vehicle and the licence plate number. Please note that this circulation pass only grants access to closed streets, under certain conditions. Please abide by rules associated with the circulation pass (printed on the back), and respect additional signage or instructions by law enforcement agencies, where applicable. The circulation pass does not come with parking privileges.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: All camera positions in the designated media areas will be equipped with a hardwired audio program feed.

Canadian Heritage complies with and abides by Industry Canada regulations on the use of wireless frequencies. The use of wireless equipment (for instance, microphones, cameras or intercom systems) that interferes with or impedes Canadian Heritage's pre-authorized frequency channels will not be permitted on Parliament Hill on June 30 and July 1, 2016.

Members of the media who wish to use wireless equipment must validate their frequency channels with Marc Fortier, Canadian Parliamentary Press Gallery, at marc.fortier@parl.gc.ca and verify that their equipment operates within those designated channels.
