Media Advisory: Affordable Housing is the Key Focus of Annual CHF Fundraiser

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Oct. 22, 2014) - On Thursday, October 23rd, the Calgary Homeless Foundation (CHF) will host its annual fundraiser featuring Premier Jim Prentice. This year's Home Opener is presented by NOVA Chemicals and will attract a crowd of approximately 300 people from government, business and the social services sector. Master of Ceremonies, Jim "Bearcat" Murray, will keep the evening running smoothly with guests being provided ample opportunity to support CHF and its vision of ending homelessness. "The key is affordable housing", says Diana Krecsy, President & CEO of CHF.

Since the launch of Calgary's 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness in 2008, over 6,000 people have been provided housing with supports. CHF has also built a portfolio of over 560 units and is currently building its first of eight new purpose-built apartment buildings for formerly homeless Calgarians. The 30 unit apartment building is in the Beltline area and is anticipated to be on-stream in Spring 2015. CHF currently has an additional three Development Permit Applications on file with the City of Calgary, Planning Department.
