Media Advisory: Alberta Common Ground Alliance Presents 2013 Safety Conference

Safety Conference Covers Underground Utility Damage Prevention

LETHBRIDGE, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Feb. 6, 2013) - The Alberta Common Ground Alliance (ABCGA) is proud to present the 2013 ABCGA Safety Conference on March 5, 2013 at the Lethbridge Lodge Hotel and Conference Centre.

In the spirit of cooperation, the ABCGA is dedicated to minimizing damages caused to Alberta's infrastructure from unauthorized contacts and to promoting safe working environments for all agencies involved in development and construction.

The ABCGA's annual Safety Conference showcases a variety of topics related to infrastructure damage prevention. This year's event will include sessions on enforcement and accident prevention, competency and new worker information related to ground disturbance, and will consist of a damage prevention panel with key experts that include Town of Pincher Creek councilman Lorne Jackson, ATCO Gas district foreman Carl Brockman and Alberta One Call Corporation president Mike Sullivan.

After attending last year's event, Michael Znak of Lamco Gas Co-op made the following comments: "The seminar is an educational and eye opening event, I would recommend it to anyone involved with ground disturbance. It could be a lifesaving experience!"

Many ABCGA members will have the opportunity to sponsor booths and share information on underground utility protection that will help attendees maintain safety around underground utilities.

The ABCGA is also proud to welcome this year's special guest speaker Spencer Beach, an inspirational survivor who will share his story on the importance of safety. Learn more about his courageous journey at
