After welcoming remarks from Regis Kelly, chairman of BASIC and Executive Director of QB3, and Roy Kuga, PG&E Vice President for Energy and Supply, there will be an overview on the new "Science Futures Report" from BASIC presented by Kelly and Barry Klein, Vice Chancellor for Research, University of California at Davis, who was the project lead for the report, which is entitled, "Innovative Energy Solutions from the San Francisco Bay Area: Fueling a Clean Energy Future."

These remarks will be followed by a 90-minute panel discussion on alternative energy solutions. Panelists will include: Andy Hargadon, Director, Energy Efficiency Center, UC Davis (moderator); Sally Benson, Executive Director, Global Climate Energy Project, Stanford University; Paul Alivisatos, Associate Laboratory Director for Physical Sciences, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory; Doug Rotman Program Leader, Earth Sciences and Engineering, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory; Blake Simmons, Manager, Energy Systems Department, Sandia National Laboratory; Roy Kuga, Vice President, Energy and Supply, PG&E; David Pearce, President and CEO, Miasolé.

This event will take place on July 19, 2007, with the program starting at 9:30 am and concluding by noon.
