OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - April 25, 2013) - On Friday, April 26, the Canadian Labour Congress, in conjunction with the Common Causes coalition, is organizing a demonstration at the Simcoe Constituency Office of Conservative MP and Cabinet Minister Diane Finley to draw attention to the disastrous cutbacks made to Employment Insurance by the Harper government.
Similar events will occur at the offices of other Members of Parliament serving on the House of Commons Standing Committee on Human Resources, which is responsible for reviewing Employment Insurance issues. These activities will occur in parallel with a major Employment Insurance event organized in downtown Montreal by a coalition in Quebec.
The April 26 event will launch a Week of Action to protest against the harmful changes to Employment Insurance and the Conservative government's austerity agenda.
