WHAT: 27th Annual Cardinal's Dinner

WHEN: Thursday, November 9, 2006
6:00 p.m. - Reception 7:00 p.m. - Dinner

WHERE: Metro Toronto Convention Centre (North Building)

WHO: Aloysius Cardinal Ambrozic, Archbishop of Toronto,
welcomes 2,000 guests including:

- His Excellency, Archbishop Luigi Ventura, Papal Nuncio to Canada
(representing the Vatican)
- The Honourable, Dalton McGuinty, Premier of Ontario

- The Honourable James Flaherty, Federal Minister of Finance

- Her Worship, Hazel McCallion, Mayor of Mississauga

- The Right Rev. Colin Johnson (Anglican Diocese of Toronto).


On November 9, political, business and religious leaders from across the GTA will gather in celebration of the 27th annual Cardinal's Dinner. Since 1979, this event has raised millions of dollars to assist worthy community partners.

The dinner will also include clergy and parish representatives from Archdiocesan churches as well as inter-faith guests along with Mayors, Reeves and other municipal officials. More than 2,000 guests are expected to attend.

The Cardinal's Dinner, founded by the late Gerald Emmett Cardinal Carter, continues to serve as one of the largest local dinners in the country. Since its inception in 1979, the event has raised more than $4 million, with close to $150,000 raised in 2005 to support 23 local charities.
