Media Advisory: Award-Winning Filmmaker, Rob Stewart (Sharkwater), to Emcee C-Day: Fill the Hill

What: C-Day: Fill the Hill - The largest citizen mobilization movement on climate change in Canadian history, held in alliance with's International Day of Climate Action.

Who: The event will be emceed by Award winning Canadian filmmaker and conservationist Rob Stewart, who will also be filming the event for his new 3D feature documentary, Rise Again.

Where: Parliament Hill, Ottawa

When: Saturday October 24th, 2009, from 12:00pm until 3:30pm; prime event action will take place approximately 2:00-3:00p.m.

Why: This December, world leaders will meet in Copenhagen to reach a consensus to prevent runaway global warming and facilitate a green economy. The International Day of Climate Action is a global movement allowing citizens to voice their demand that the resulting global treaty be fair, ambitious and binding. Thousands of events will take place around the world. C-Day: Fill The Hill in Ottawa will be the largest in Canada and among the largest globally.

Participants: Thousands of Canadians from all walks of life are expected to rally together to "Fill the Hill", including over 1000 participants from Power Shift Canada, a National youth conference addressing issues of climate change taking place in Ottawa October 23-26th, 2009.

Rob Stewart – Photographer, filmmaker, conservationist and passionate speaker.
His revolutionary film Sharkwater (2007) has won 33 International awards and has become the second biggest environmental documentary in history.

C-Day: Fill the Hill – Organized by Gracen Johnson, a student at the University of Guelph who was inspired by David Suzuki to change Government climate change policies. C-Day Fill the Hill is a grassroots movement run entirely by volunteers, gaining momentum Nationwide.

Power Shift Canada – The Power Shift conference will be two days of training, strategy and action and one mass lobby day to hold our elected officials accountable to for their part to solve the climate crisis, and to build a cohesive and effective youth climate movement. The focus is on Canada's potential to build a clean energy economy, create millions of green jobs, increase global equity, and revitalize our economy. - An international campaign dedicated to building a movement to unite the world around solutions to the climate crisis. The mission is to inspire the world to create a new sense of urgency and of possibility for our planet. The number 350 refers to parts per million, the level scientists have identified as the safe upper limit for CO2 in our atmosphere.
