Media Advisory: Battle of the Atlantic Parade and Ceremony

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 29, 2011) - The national Battle of the Atlantic commemoration will be held at the National War Memorial this Sunday, May 1st to mark the sacrifices made by the many who fought in the epic Battle of the Atlantic during the Second World War.

There will be a parade from the Government Conference Centre (located at 2 Rideau Street) to the National War Memorial, followed by a ceremony at that location.

Participants in the ceremony include Chief of the Maritime Staff Vice-Admiral Dean McFadden, serving members of the Canadian Forces, the Central Band of the Canadian Forces, Central Region Sea and Air Cadets, Navy League Cadets, the Royal Canadian Legion Colour Party, local veteran organizations, the Ottawa Children's Choir and other guests.

WHEN: Sunday, May 1st beginning at 10 a.m.

WHERE: National War Memorial in Confederation Square, Ottawa.
