Media Advisory: Be Part of RONA's Big Announcement!!

ST. JOHN'S, NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 13, 2006) - As a National Partner of the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Teams through to the year 2012 and the VANCOUVER 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, RONA is strongly committed to helping Canadian athletes. As part of this commitment, RONA is launching the Growing with our Athletes program across Canada to provide financial support to 100 high-performance winter and summer Olympic and Paralympic athletes who are current and future Olympians and Paralympians. RONA's financial support to these athletes will assist them in their living, training and competition expenses for up to five years.

Members of the media are invited to join RONA in the announcement of the 100 Canadian athletes selected for the Growing with our Athletes program. Every RONA store in Canada will be aligned with one of these athletes to generate local community support and involvement. From October 16th - 20th, RONA will be holding six news conferences in cities across Canada. Further information can be viewed at
