Media Advisory: Boomerang Tracking Welcomes Tougher Time for Auto Crime

The problem should be top of mind with Canadian car owners

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - April 21, 2009) - Boomerang Tracking supports the Harper Government's position and initiatives to help stop auto theft in Canada. Auto theft is a social and economic problem that costs Canadians money and peace of mind and its impact is sometimes underestimated. Due to the high costs and frustrations associated with auto theft, the issue should be top of mind with Canadian car owners and the measures undertaken by the Federal Government is yet another step in the right direction.

Boomerang Tracking has spokespeople available to comment on the current situation and provide expert analysis on auto theft. Moreover, they can offer advice on how to further reduce the recurring problem of vehicle theft in Canada.

As of April 2009, over 6,700 vehicles equipped with a Boomerang device have been recovered, representing an overall value of over $330 million. Boomerang tracking devices have not only led to the recovery of assets equipped with a Boomerang, but have also contributed to the recovery of other stolen vehicles, which did not have a unit installed. These incidental recoveries accounted for an additional $43 million in value. Boomerang has enabled police to break up numerous chop shops, dismantle entire car theft crime rings and arrest hundreds of thieves.
