Bringing important message on how accounting changes impact business

ST. CATHARINES, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 5, 2008) - The Chair of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario is highlighting the CA profession's Competitiveness Agenda for Ontario's financial and business sectors when he visits St. Catharines on March 6. Keith Farlinger, FCA, Toronto Region Managing Partner at BDO Dunwoody LLP, will provide background on how Ontario can remain competitive across the board, from Bay Street to Main Street, and meet the challenges of competing on the world stage.

While In St. Catharines, Mr. Farlinger will visit Brock University and meet with local CAs. In between meetings, he's available to discuss ways to make Ontario and Canada more competitive globally.

Among the competitiveness-related topics he will address are:

- Inter-provincial free trade agreements: Getting them right

- The need for nationally consistent public accounting standards

- How legal liability issues in the accounting industry are affecting businesses of all sizes and constraining economic growth.

Mr. Farlinger can also speak on what the CA profession is doing to meet the growing demand for financial professionals in all business sectors, a problem that is particularly acute in smaller communities.
