Ontario Convocation brings together Chartered Accounting grads in Toronto Feb. 26

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 23, 2011) - Belmont-raised Chartered Accounting student Jacqueline Corneil was among just 18 Ontario students to make the prestigious Honour Roll for top marks on the 2010 Canada-wide Uniform Evaluation (UFE), one of the world's most challenging professional entry examinations.

She'll join other 1,172 soon-to-be Chartered Accountants – including 52 from Western Ontario – at Toronto's Westin Harbour Castle on Saturday, February 26 to celebrate passing the UFE. It's a colourful celebration featuring pipers, music and a proud parade of young achievers and their families. The Ontario Government will be represented by the Honourable Dr. Eric Hoskins, MPP, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration.

The UFE, written in September, is a national three-day evaluation that assesses competencies including essential knowledge, professional judgment, ethics and the ability to communicate. The UFE is an important component of the CA qualification program, which includes prescribed education, practical experience and examination requirements. Only those who complete this entire program successfully are entitled to use the internationally recognized designation of Chartered Accountant, a profession known for superior financial expertise, strategic thinking, business insight and leadership.

On why she chose the profession, Ms. Corneil said: "Business was always something that I was good at and that interested me, but I wanted something with more direction. It is my hope that the CA designation will give me an edge in my future career aspirations."
