Media Advisory: Canada Command Change of Command Ceremony

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 12, 2009) - Media are invited to attend a Change of Command Ceremony on May 13, 2009, between Vice-Admiral Bruce Donaldson and Vice-Admiral Dean McFadden. Vice-Admiral Donaldson, previously Director of Staff for the Strategic Joint Staff, will replace Vice-Admiral McFadden as Commander Canada Command. Vice-Admiral McFadden will assume the duties of Chief of the Maritime Staff later this summer. The Chief of the Defence Staff, General Walt Natynczyk, will preside over the ceremony. Details of the ceremony are as follows:

- When: Wednesday, May 13 at 10:45 a.m.

- Where: Cartier Square Drill Hall, 2 Queen Elizabeth Drive, Ottawa

Canada Command has lead responsibility for routine and contingency Canadian Forces operations in Canada and continental North America. On any given day under Canada Command, thousands of sailors, soldiers, and air force personnel stand ready to defend Canadian sovereignty, to assist Canadians in need and to help our neighbours to the south.
