Media Advisory/Canada Command : International Day for Elimination of Racism - Commemorative Event

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - March 22, 2007) - Media are invited to attend the Department of National Defence/ Canadian Forces commemorative event to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Racism.

Lieut.-Gen. Marc Dumais, Commander Canada COM and CF/DND champion of visible minorities and Mrs. Cynthia Binnington, civilian champion for visible minorities will be addressing both civilian employees and Canadian Forces members on racial discrimination, multiculturalism, and diversity.

The event will also include personal testimonials and a special presentation on two diversity survey results by Dr. Irina Goldenberg, defence scientist.

Lieut.-Gen. Marc Dumais, will be available for short interviews after the event.

What: International Day for the Elimination of Racism

Where: Main Concourse, National Defence Headquarters,
101 Colonel By Drive, Ottawa.

When: Friday, 23 March, 2007

Time: 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (EST)

Media are asked to arrive no later than 9:20 a.m. at the main entrance of National Defence Headquarters (Mackenzie-King Bridge entrance).
