BJORKDALE, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwire - Dec. 20, 2007) - Students at Bjorkdale School will be celebrating their royal connection in their school gymnasium at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, December 21, 2007.

Canada Post officials will present each Grade 9 and 10 student with an Official First Day Cover of the soon to be released Queen Elizabeth II stamp. The picture of the Queen was taken in Saskatoon during her 2005 visit to mark the Saskatchewan provincial centennial. The Official First Day Cover shows a quilt made by Grade 6 and 7 students from Bjorkdale School. They used the quilt as a fundraiser to pay for their trip to Saskatoon, where they met Her Majesty during her tour of the Canadian Light Source Synchrotron at the University of Saskatchewan.

Each of those students, who are now in Grades 9 and 10, will receive a copy of the Official First Day Cover, and a framed set of the Cover will be presented to the school to commemorate the event.

An Official First Day Cover is a special envelope used to mark the release of a new stamp. The Cover includes a cancelled stamp. They are much prized by stamp collectors. The Official First Day Cover of the new Queen Elizabeth II stamp will be postmarked Bjorkdale, Saskatchewan.
