Media Advisory: Canada's New Government and Conservation Groups Join Forces for Habitat Management

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - March 23, 2007) - The Honourable Loyola Hearn, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) will be signing an important and unique agreement with nine major conservation non-governmental organizations to achieve better protection of fish habitat. The organizations include the Atlantic Salmon Federation, Canadian Wildlife Federation, Ducks Unlimited Canada, Nature Canada, Nature Conservancy of Canada, Pacific Salmon Foundation, Trout Unlimited Canada, National Watershed Stewardship Coalition and Wildlife Habitat Canada. The ceremony will include remarks by the Honourable Loyola Hearn, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans and by Barry Turner, National Director of Government Relations for Ducks Unlimited Canada. A question and answer session for media will follow.
