The concentration is an international high-profile marksmanship event organized by the Canadian Army, and designed to enhance participants shooting skills on various standard and dynamic ranges.

CAFSAC, in its past iteration, was first organized by the Dominion of Canada Rifle Association in La Prairie, Quebec in 1868 before moving to the Rideau Ranges and later the Rockcliffe Ranges in the Ottawa area. The event has been held at the Connaught Ranges since 1921. The Dominion of Canada Rifle Association remains one of the Canadian Armed Forces' partners in helping organize the military-led small arms concentration.

Media are requested to meet the Public Affairs Officer, Major Scott Spurr, at the entrance of the front gate to the Connaught Range by 12:30 p.m.
