Media Advisory: Canadian Armed Forces Training and Parade in Coleman Township and Cobalt, ON

COBALT, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Feb. 2, 2015) - A winter survival training Exercise Moose Survival will take place in the area of Gillies Lake in Coleman Township on 6 and 7 February, 2015. Approximately 100 members of The Algonquin Regiment, 3rd Canadian Ranger Patrol Group, and ten different army cadet corps will practice living off the land, ice water rescue, improvised shelters, ice fishing, and other survival activities.

On February 8, 2015 these soldiers will also participate in a "Freedom of the Municipality" parade in Cobalt. The parade will begin at 11:25 a.m. at the Cobalt Arena and will travel to the Cobalt Town Hall where they will be greeted by the Mayor. A short ceremony will follow and then The Algonquin Regiment will be permitted to march through town with bayonets fixed and their Colours flying. The parade will end at 12:00 p.m. with a community barbecue at the arena.

When: 7:00 a.m. 7 February 2015 until 1:00 pm 8 February, 2015

Where: Jeunesse en Marche Camp at Gillies Lake in Coleman Township and the town of Cobalt.

What: A military winter survival training exercise, Freedom of the Municipality Parade, and free community barbecue.

Media Opportunities: Media are invited to attend the training exercise and observe training at any point on February 7, 2015. They are invited to attend the parade and BBQ between 11:20 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Interviews can be arranged upon request.
