Media Advisory: Canadian Army in GTA and Niagara Gets New Commander

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - July 20, 2015) - Media are invited to attend the change of command ceremony for 32 Canadian Brigade Group, at Fort York National Historic Site on Thursday, July 23, 2015, at 6 p.m. Col. Andrew Zalvin will be formally taking command of the Brigade, the Canadian Army in the Greater Toronto Area and Niagara Region, in a ceremony marked by military pageantry and history.

The soldiers of the Brigade will be joined by War of 1812 re-enactors and the change of command will be marked by the firing of one of the Fort's historic 18th century cannons. Col. Zalvin will be available for interviews immediately after the ceremony.

When: Parade begins at 6 p.m., guests will be seated by 5:45 p.m.

Where: Fort York National Historic Site, 250 Fort York Blvd., Toronto

What: The new commander of 32 Canadian Brigade takes command of the Canadian Army formation in the GTA with a ceremony of military pageantry, music and history.

Parking is available at the lot near Fort York Armoury, corner of Strachan Ave. and Fleet St. In the event of rain, ceremony will be held at Fort York Armoury, 660 Fleet St., Toronto.
